Blog #8 The Future of Television

In television networks' attempt to maintain their audiences attention they have been coming up with increasingly more cunning ways to keep their ratings. Besides ensuring viewers of the length of the commercial time between programming, NBC has made it convenient to watch the shows you've missed online. Many other networks soon followed suit making it easier to stream the episodes, as well as promising little to no commercial interruptions. Networks are also getting viewers to stay tuned by shortening the lengths of the commercials and/or making them a bit more edgy, and humorous. The shows themselves have adapted a whole new appeal to them by making the theme openings catchy, more "techy" gadgets are being used in the episodes, and programs are starting sooner and sooner after the end of the previous show--so that they can attain the overflow of audience. In the light of new technology, T.V has no intention of backing down from the growing technological change, but stepping up to meet the next trend.
